Database Administrator (SQL Server & BI)

About the role

An experienced Database Administrator (DBA) is sought with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and the on-premises Microsoft Business Intelligence (BI) stack. The role ensures the performance, availability, security and reliability of the database and BI platforms while supporting business-critical analytics and reporting solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and optimise Microsoft SQL Server environments
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, backup and recovery strategies
• Monitor and troubleshoot database performance, capacity and security issues
• Design and implement database maintenance and automation processes
• Develop and support BI solutions with SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, Power BI Report Server and data warehouse initiatives
• Collaborate with data engineers, architects and business stakeholders on reliable data solutions
• Define and enforce database governance, security and operational best practices
• Participate in infrastructure modernisation and technical migration projects

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA
• Proven experience leading or contributing to technical migration projects, including database upgrades, platform migrations and BI platform transformations
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale production environments with high availability requirements
• Proven experience in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and stakeholder management

Required skills

• Microsoft SQL Server administration, performance tuning, security, backup and recovery
• Hands-on experience with SSIS, SSAS, SSRS and Power BI Report Server
• Data warehousing, ETL processes and BI architectures
• Nice to have: Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, hybrid data architectures, DevOps, CI/CD, PowerShell and SQL automation
