US Tax & Compliance Specialist – Remote

About the role

KUDO Accounting is seeking an experienced US Tax & Compliance Specialist to join a US accounting firm on a full‑time remote basis. The role supports a range of clients across the United States, handling tax notices, filings, and compliance matters while working independently from the Balkans.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, manage, and resolve IRS, state and local tax notices.
• Prepare and file Forms 2848 and equivalent state authorizations.
• Communicate directly with IRS and state tax authorities.
• Support federal and state tax compliance for individuals, partnerships, S‑Corporations and C‑Corporations.
• Handle payroll tax registrations, filings and related notices.
• Manage sales and use tax registrations, filings and notices.
• Research US tax questions using IRS and state guidance.
• Interact with US clients to gather required information and follow‑up.
• Maintain compliance deadlines and recurring work schedules.
• Assist with client onboarding and practice operations.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with US tax and accounting, including resolving IRS or state notices.
• Proven ability to prepare US federal and state tax filings.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Capacity to work independently without day‑to‑day supervision.
• Availability for meaningful overlap with US Eastern Time.
• CPA, Enrolled Agent, or progress toward either qualification is a plus.
