National Project Coordinator

About the role

The National Project Coordinator will provide day‑to‑day coordination and technical support for the MAKE‑READY pandemic preparedness project in Albania, acting as FAO’s focal point with national authorities and beneficiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Support liaison and coordination with national authorities, technical institutes and professional bodies across human health, animal health and environment sectors.
• Plan, organise and implement project activities such as meetings, trainings and workshops, and provide in‑country support to international specialists.
• Assist in surveillance, laboratory systems and workforce capacity activities, and contribute technical input to policy and strategy updates.
• Strengthen multisectoral coordination mechanisms, including the One Health approach, and develop technical guidelines and training materials.
• Monitor project implementation, collect data, report against indicators and support financial and administrative coordination at national level.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in veterinary medicine, public health, epidemiology, One Health or related field.
• Minimum five years of experience managing or coordinating animal health and/or public health projects, with senior‑level responsibility for planning, implementation and stakeholder coordination.
• Proficiency in English and Albanian (Level C) and either Albanian nationality or a valid work permit.

Required skills

• Extensive experience in managing complex, multi‑stakeholder projects in animal health, veterinary public health or public health.
• Knowledge of the United Nations system, donor‑funded project cycles, results‑based management and monitoring & evaluation.
• Understanding of One Health, disease surveillance, early warning, laboratory diagnostics and antimicrobial resistance.
• Ability to engage senior government counterparts and coordinate across sectors and institutions.
