National Project Coordinator – Albania (Part‑time)

About the role

The National Project Coordinator will support the GEF‑funded biodiversity conservation project in the Albanian Alps. Working part‑time from Tirana, the consultant will ensure effective coordination among partners, monitor project progress, and liaise with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment to achieve the project’s objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall technical coordination of the three project components, ensuring alignment with UNEP and GEF requirements.
• Coordinate activities with project partners, monitor work plans, budgets, schedules and reporting obligations.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date implementation and monitoring tracker covering activities, outputs, deadlines and constraints.
• Organise and follow up on coordination meetings with UNEP, the Ministry, partners and consultants.
• Conduct partner due‑diligence, prepare or revise Terms of Reference and technical specifications.
• Supervise national consultants and review their deliverables, providing feedback for revision or acceptance.
• Monitor progress against the results framework, identify delays or risks, and propose corrective actions.
• Liaise with national and local institutions, protected‑area authorities, communities, civil society and development partners.
• Document stakeholder consultations, workshops, training sessions and monitoring visits.
• Prepare project progress, implementation and financial reports and support the mid‑term evaluation.
