Instrumentation Helper (Various Locations)

About the role

The Instrumentation Helper supports journeymen in the layout, fabrication, assembly, repair and installation of electronic and pneumatic instruments across multiple sites. Working under direct supervision, you will assist with piping, tubing, cable tray systems and related instrument infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in layout and installation using drawings, blueprints and sketches.
• Measure, cut, bend, thread, and assemble cable trays, tubing and piping.
• Install tubing, clamps, and support systems under journeyman guidance.
• Operate hand, hydraulic and power tools to drill, tap, and secure brackets and guards.
• Operate man lifts, scissor lifts, overhead cranes, band saws, hose‑cutting/crimping devices, pressure pumps and hydraulic units as required.
• Inspect and maintain tools and equipment.
• Follow Yates safety procedures, report hazards and participate in safety meetings.

Required profile

• 36 months or less of heavy‑industrial instrument experience (Level I‑IV).
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, drawings and documentation.
• Completion of required safety training (Confined Space, LOTO, Working at Heights).
• Physical ability to perform manual labor and lift equipment.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
• Measuring, cutting, bending and threading tubing and piping.
• Installation of cable tray and support systems.
• Use of hand, hydraulic and power tools (drilling, tapping).
• Operation of man lifts, scissor lifts and overhead cranes.
• Use of band saws, hose‑cutting/crimping devices, pressure and hydraulic pumps.
