Control Room Operator – Renewable Energy Plant

About the role

Enviva is seeking a Control Room Operator to oversee continuous plant operations at its renewable wood‑bioenergy facility. The role ensures safe, efficient generation while responding to alarms and maintaining production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Operate plant functions from the control room, including chip feed, fuel feed, furnace, dryer, sizing, and pellet presses.
• Monitor indicator screens, signal lights, production rates, and spark‑detection equipment.
• Adjust process parameters in real time to keep the plant running smoothly.
• Maintain equipment temperature, safety standards, and work schedules.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment malfunctions, prioritising critical issues.
• Communicate with team members, respond to alarms, and coordinate via radio.

Required profile

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and interpret safety and operating documents.
• High school diploma or GED; experience in wood products, furnace/dryer operations, or a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and capacity to work under pressure.
• Team player who can also work independently.

Required skills

• Operation of HMI touch‑screen interfaces.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Use of hand tools for routine adjustments.
• Mathematical calculations for flow, pressure, and performance metrics.
