Senior Frontend Platform Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Frontend Platform Engineer to shape the core foundations of n8n’s workflow‑building experience. You will work on a fast‑growing open‑source automation platform, helping product teams deliver complex, high‑performance user interfaces for both cloud and self‑hosted deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and evolve core frontend platform primitives that keep the workflow builder scalable, extensible and maintainable.
• Define and improve platform contracts such as plugin systems, extension points and developer tooling.
• Modularize a large, evolving codebase to enable confident feature development across product teams.
• Architect and implement canvas‑based workflow UI, including real‑time collaboration using WebSockets, CRDTs or similar synchronization techniques.
• Drive performance optimisation, profiling and rendering improvements for complex interactive workflows.
• Contribute to web‑worker orchestration and other frontend infrastructure that supports advanced automation use cases.

Required profile

• Strong experience building large‑scale frontend platforms for SaaS products.
• Deep understanding of modular architecture, plugin ecosystems and developer experience.
• Proven ability to work autonomously, propose technical solutions and influence architectural decisions.
• Passion for performance, accessibility and delivering polished user experiences.
