PhD Candidate in Business and Technology

About the role

Western Balkans University (WBU), a fully English-taught institution in Tirana, Albania, is looking for a PhD Candidate in Business and Technology. The candidate will carry out advanced research at the intersection of business management, digital transformation, innovation and emerging technologies. The role is on-site in Albania, with regular presence at the university and active participation in its research community.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct literature reviews, design research methodologies and collect and analyse data
• Prepare research papers for conferences and journals
• Take part in seminars, workshops and departmental meetings
• Support teaching, such as assisting in undergraduate or master's courses and supervising student projects
• Work with academic supervisors and research teams to develop and refine the dissertation project

Required profile

• Master's degree (or equivalent) in Business, Economics, Technology Management or a related discipline; prior research experience is an advantage
• Strong foundation in business, management, economics or a related field, with interest in technology and innovation
• Excellent academic writing and communication skills in English
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage time and meet research deadlines
• Strong ethical standards, critical thinking and commitment to continuous learning

Required skills

• Demonstrated research skills: literature review, research design, data collection and quantitative and/or qualitative analysis
• Familiarity with digital tools used in research and teaching, such as statistical software, reference management tools and learning management systems
