Chief Legal Officer

About the role

The Chief Legal Officer will lead the legal function of USECFA sh.a, a financial institution operating in emerging markets. Reporting to the board and senior management, the role ensures that all activities comply with applicable legislation and protects the company’s legal interests.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure compliance with current legislation affecting the financial institution.
• Provide daily legal advice to management and business units on product development, contracts, marketing materials and customer interactions.
• Draft, negotiate and review commercial agreements, shareholder resolutions and other legal documents.
• Oversee litigation matters and coordinate with external counsel when necessary.
• Advise the HR department on employment law, labor and benefits issues.
• Develop and maintain corporate governance policies, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
• Maintain up‑to‑date registers of regulations, resolutions and internal manuals.

Required profile

• Law degree with a valid license to practice.
• Extensive experience in banking, micro‑finance or consumer finance legal environments.
• Proven track record in managing legal teams and advising senior executives.
• Strong understanding of corporate governance, regulatory compliance and litigation management.
