Back-End Software Developer (Java)

About the role

A team of software developers is looking for a back-end developer to build and maintain scalable, robust Java-based applications. The team has a strong spirit, shares knowledge and uses modern computer science theories and software practices to create innovative software.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and customize scalable Java-based backend applications such as JEE or Spring Boot
• Maintain and enhance existing solutions, including bug fixing, performance improvement and customer-specific customizations
• Analyze application requirements and change requests and define appropriate technical solutions
• Collaborate on system architecture, technical solutions and structure to support long-term maintainability
• Apply best practices to ensure reliable, maintainable and extensible solutions, with high design and code quality standards
• Use automated testing (unit, component, integration tests) to ensure quality and stability
• Support packaging and automated deployment of server-side software
• Contribute to product improvements and propose optimizations and innovations
• Work in an agile manner with stakeholders to deliver enhancements and maintenance updates

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 3+ years of experience as a Java Enterprise Developer
• Solid foundation in computer science theory
• Fluent English; availability to travel internationally, including possible temporary assignments abroad
• Team player in a multi-cultural environment, able to work independently and handle several projects at once

Required skills

• Java Spring Boot, with functional or reactive programming as a plus
• Git, RESTful APIs, testing frameworks (e.g. Cucumber)
• Container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI tools (Jenkins) as a plus
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL) and authentication systems (Keycloak, Spring Security, OAuth) as a plus
• Agile methods such as Scrum as a plus
