Backend Engineer – Python & C/C++

About the role

As a Backend Engineer at amber you will help build and scale an AI‑driven platform that makes company knowledge easily accessible. You will work closely with AI, frontend and DevOps teams to deliver new features and keep the system reliable and performant.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise scalable backend microservices for the amberAI platform.
• Integrate new data sources via REST APIs and enhance the AI’s knowledge base.
• Collaborate with frontend, AI and DevOps teams to bring features from concept to production.
• Contribute to the evolution of the microservice architecture, suggesting improvements and refactoring existing modules.
• Prioritise security, data protection and data quality in all implementations.
• Deploy code directly to a production environment used daily by customers.

Required profile

• Proven experience building scalable microservices and working with REST APIs.
• Daily use of Python and familiarity with its ecosystem.
• Solid knowledge of C/C++ (additional languages such as Go, Rust or JavaScript are a plus).
• Understanding of modular software architecture, clean code principles and system design.
• Strong desire to learn new technologies and improve existing solutions.
• Fluent communication in both German and English.
