QA Engineer - Manual and Automated Testing

About the role

QuinStreet Home Services is looking for a detail-oriented QA Engineer to ensure product quality through a combination of manual exploratory testing and automated UI and API testing. You will work closely with developers throughout the development lifecycle, design test scenarios, investigate defects and help improve the testing processes and automation framework. The role suits someone with strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset and hands-on experience with modern testing tools and CI/CD workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive manual and exploratory testing of new features to ensure they meet requirements and deliver a good user experience.
• Develop and maintain automated UI and API test scripts within the existing automation framework.
• Create and execute test cases and plan test runs combining manual scenarios with automated checks for full coverage.
• Collaborate with developers early to define testing requirements and support high-quality delivery.
• Monitor and analyze automated test results in the CI/CD pipeline, debug failures and report defects.
• Contribute to QA documentation such as test cases, bug reports and internal testing instructions.
• Take part in team processes (PBRs, daily meetings, retrospectives) to give testing input, estimates and advocate quality best practices.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in manual testing, including test design, requirement analysis and exploratory testing.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for finding edge cases and writing clear, reproducible bug reports.
• Great communication skills and a proactive approach to working with developers and stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency in API testing with automated tools and manual clients.
• Knowledge of SQL and basic databases for verifying data integrity.
• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Sentry, Grafana and Loki.
• Git for version control; basic Docker knowledge for running tests in containers.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. BitBucket, CircleCI) and the ability to run tests and investigate pipeline failures.
• Nice to have: TypeScript and JavaScript, Playwright, performance/security/reliability testing, cloud-native testing (AWS), mobile and responsive web testing.
