Claims Adjuster

About the role

The Claims Adjuster at Roadway Moving manages client claims daily, ensuring fair, timely, and accurate resolution in line with contractual and federal liability regulations. Acting as the primary contact, the role balances empathy with strict compliance to protect both client rights and company interests.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate claims by reviewing documentation, photos, bills of lading, contracts, and inspection reports.
• Communicate directly with clients to collect information, clarify details, and manage expectations.
• Prepare detailed liability assessments in accordance with federal law (Carmack Amendment) and valuation agreements.
• Collaborate with dispatch, foremen, and warehouse staff to verify documentation accuracy.
• Determine responsible parties for inconveniences caused.
• Maintain accurate claim records, supporting files, and settlement offers in the claims system.
• Prepare resolution offers balancing contractual liability with goodwill adjustments where appropriate.
• Ensure all claims are resolved within established timelines to avoid escalation.

Required profile

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to de‑escalate tense client situations.
• Analytical and detail‑oriented mindset for critical document review.
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with operations, dispatch, and finance teams.
• Excellent written skills for drafting clear, professional settlement offers and letters.

Required skills

• Knowledge of moving industry liability frameworks, including the Carmack Amendment, RVP, and FVP.
