Head of Product Design

About the role

n8n is seeking a Head of Product Design to lead a growing design team and shape the user experience of its AI‑driven workflow orchestration platform. This is a foundational hire with direct executive partnership, responsible for raising design quality and expanding the product to a broader, less technical audience.

Key responsibilities

• Define and uphold a clear quality bar, establishing review processes, critique rituals, and evolving the design system.
• Drive strategic design influence by shaping product strategy, integrating design thinking into roadmap discussions, and partnering with product, engineering, and leadership.
• Lead and grow a team of ~14 designers, creating career frameworks, fostering a culture of high standards, and managing hiring and headcount planning.
• Build a continuous research practice, integrating customer insights, product data, and community feedback into decisions that impact activation, adoption, and retention.
• Champion practical AI adoption within the design org, modeling adaptive, curiosity‑driven working styles.

Required profile

• Proven product design leadership experience, including managing managers and senior designers.
• Background designing complex, developer‑facing or AI‑centric products.
• Strong craft authority with the ability to set and defend high quality standards.
• Demonstrated strategic influence in product conversations and ability to navigate ambiguity.
• Experience building research into product development and making data‑informed decisions.
