Group Head of Accounting

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Group Head of Accounting to lead the accounting function for a large portfolio of international companies. This senior leadership position combines deep technical accounting expertise with team management, process ownership, and quality control.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Accounting team, including Senior Accountants and Bookkeepers.
• Own the accounting function across a multi‑entity portfolio, managing month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Set accounting standards, review procedures, closing calendars and deadlines.
• Provide final sign‑off on financial statements before management review.
• Ensure reconciliations, working papers and supporting documentation are complete and properly maintained.
• Review and resolve complex accounting issues, offering technical guidance to the team.
• Build strong controls, checklists and review processes to ensure consistent quality.
• Identify, correct and prevent recurring issues.
• Manage priorities and workload to meet deadlines.
• Collaborate with external auditors, accountants and tax advisers across multiple jurisdictions.
• Provide clear visibility to management on status, risks, delays and escalations.

Required profile

• 8–10+ years of accounting or audit experience, with at least 4–5 years leading an accounting team.
• Proven experience managing accounting across multiple entities in an international group or multi‑company environment.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS.
• Experience owning month‑end and year‑end closing processes end‑to‑end.
• Ability to challenge and review work of senior team members.
• Fluent English and strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
• Big 4 or audit background is a strong advantage.
