Carpenter Helper – Various Locations

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Carpenter Helper to support our carpenters on a variety of construction sites. You will assist in the fabrication, installation and dismantling of formwork, and gain hands‑on experience with concrete finishing and safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Construct, fabricate, install and dismantle metal, wood and accessory formwork.
• Build or reinforce forms and bracing prior to concrete pours.
• Verify dimensions using transit, plumb bob, square and level.
• Operate hand and power tools such as hammers, levels, saws, drills and pry bars.
• Level, smooth and shape freshly poured concrete with straight‑edge, float or power screed.
• Assist with layout, erection of handrails, walkways and gangways.
• Mix cement or epoxy grout and signal concrete deliveries.
• Load, transport and unload tools, equipment and supplies.
• Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
• Support rebar tying and follow all Yates safety procedures.

Required profile

• 36+ months heavy‑industrial carpenter experience (Level IV) or 12‑35 months (Level II/III).
• Ability to read and interpret flat drawings or diagrams.
• Understanding of mathematical functions as applied to carpentry tasks.
• Commitment to safety, including refusal of unsafe work and use of personal protective equipment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools (hammer, level, square, screwdriver, wrench).
• Experience using power saws, drill motors and pneumatic tools.
• Formwork construction and concrete finishing techniques.
• Use of transit, plumb bob, square and level for accuracy checks.
• Mixing cement or epoxy grout.
