Backend QA Engineer – Test Automation

About the role

Deloitte is looking for a Backend QA Engineer specialized in test automation to join its Digital Team. You will work closely with developers, analysts, UX designers and fellow QA engineers to embed quality into modern digital products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain automated test suites for backend services and APIs.
• Execute API, functional, regression and non‑functional testing.
• Collaborate with developers and product owners throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Review requirements and acceptance criteria to ensure testability.
• Identify, analyse and help resolve software defects.
• Support UI test automation with Playwright when needed.
• Contribute to improving automation frameworks, QA processes and best practices.
• Document testing activities in Jira and Confluence.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in backend QA, test automation or software testing.
• Hands‑on experience with backend and API testing, including building automated test suites.
• Proficiency in Java or Python programming.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Good written and spoken English.

Required skills

• API testing tools such as Postman or Rest Assured.
• Automation frameworks: Playwright or similar.
• Understanding of REST APIs, JSON and HTTP.
• Jira and Confluence for test case management.
• SQL, Git, Docker.
• CI/CD tools: Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with Swagger/OpenAPI.
